Virginia Booze was a mentor of my 20 something young adult group and she was always a happy, no, joyful person. Virginia had walked through so much crud in her life, yet still had an amazing amount of joy.
I asked her how she could be continually jubilant? She smiled in answer - “How can I not? God‘s character never changes. His view of me is always the same. He loves me. I’m his favorite!“ I probed further, how does she recall this, keep it in front of her, not forget, and remember, especially when crud hits.
She shared her secret.
Alphabet prayers. She would remind herself of His attributes/character/abilities starting with A and going to Z over and over and over until she believed it. Virginia, no surprise, was right; Alphabet Praise Prayers are Powerful.
I was remembering Virginia, her wisdom, kindness, faithfulness, integrity as I prayed this morning “entering his courts with praise“: Abundant, Bountiful, Creative, Desiring of my presence, Eternal, Faithful, Good, Humble, Intelligent, Just, Kind, Loving… and this person wants to spend time with me! How can I not have joy, and peace, and love when I have so much amazing goodness flowing towards me?!
